A Bit about Aileen Gillies

During the lockdown of 2020 I decided it was time to raise some money for the local MacMillan unit in Lochgilphead in memory of my late mum Marion who had passed away from pancreatic cancer in 2017.  Within 3 weeks I had raised over £1000 far more that she thought she would.  By January 2021 she had raised over £5000.00.  Each year my calendars were getting more popular and by January 2026 my calendars had raised £20,500.00 for the local MacMillan unit.  During this time calendars have also raised £650.00 for Kintyre Shopper aid and £300.00 for the fisher men’s mission.

I am self-taught and usually be found chasing a sunset or along the crinan canal.

My photography journey keeps growing from year to year my 2026 challenge for her 2027 calendars is Crossbasket House part of the Glasgow Children’s Hospital Chairity which provides accommodation to families with sick children in the hospital.  Having experienced a two week stay in the old children’s hospital 35 years ago I was a week without my mum or dad as they could only afford accommodation for a week.

Thank you to everyone who keeps supporting me and following my journey.

Aileen
